Meet the Asian

"Yeah, it's bullcrap. I'll bet half of these people are Koreans." -Cartman (South Park)

Ok, I figure I should get this over with and do a "Meet the..." page (Thanks td0t).

That's me, and yes...I am 'Super Soft'
That's me, and yes...I am 'Super Soft'

To everyone, welcome to Gamers Wish List.  I am Simon, an Asian (if you can't tell already from my picture above), but I am also the creator/founder of GamersWishList.com.  I have been developing the site for over 2 years (recently relaunched after a long hiatus), making new updates everyday for the past month.

As a child I didn't really play a lot of video games.  I owned an Atari 5200 but never owned any other consoles until my early 20's, which was an Xbox.  You read correctly, I went from Atari 5200 to an Xbox.   Although I never owned an NES as a child, I didn't feel like I was really missing out.  My friends would always invite me over their place and we would play one of their consoles (NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, etc.), perhaps they were showing off.

HAW HAW!
HAW HAW!

I never truly got into gaming until I owned a PC.  I was about 12 years old when I finally got my parents to buy me a new computer.  I broke it the next day. I dropped those old CRT monitors when I pulled it out of my parent's car.  I was young and was a little too anxious.  My first computer was a 486 DX 2, I think.  Back then I didn't know what the numbers meant and what the difference was between some of my computers. All I knew was that it was faster than the previous one.

A friend of mine was already a huge gamer and he supplied me a plethora of games. Doom II, the game that started it all.  I don't know how I was able to play that game, the game was really scary back then.  There were demons that would come out of nowhere, they all had spikes coming out of their body *shudder*.  I didn't mind the cacodemons because they were slow and didn't like to come close.

The cute cacodemon...
The cute cacodemon...

The next few games became a blur because there weren't any really good ones.  I do however remember playing Full Throttle.  Lucas Arts did an outstanding job on that game.  The voice acting, the animation, the side splitting comedy; this game was amazing.  I would play that game with detail because I didn't want to miss anything.  I would click each square inch in the game with the foot, fist, and a skull that sticks it's tongue out like it's trying to lick my screen.

I think I go into phases when I play my games.  I would play Doom II, which is a first person shooter and then I would play a bunch of games that were the same genre. Such as Corridor 7, Wolfenstein 3d, etc. Then I would play a bunch of adventure games: Full Throttle, Roger Wilco: The Spinal Frontier (where the crew turns into a lemon sorbet), The Dig. Next I would play games that were flying in space, TIE Fighter, Decent, etc.  Those were simple games and I never really got into real time strategy (RTS) until really late afterwards.  I think because I didn't quite understand the concept of an RTS and didn't want to take the time to learn it I just never took any interest in it.  I did play the original C&C after I understood it a little more, along with Dark Reign and Total Annihilation.  I started to get addicted to RTS.   Obviously StarCraft was the reason why I love RTS now.  Yes, I said StarCraft, I am after all a Korean.

I am looking forward to meet each of our fans out there.  The site has been growing and the numbers have double since our relaunch.  I have made plans for the website and I will be posting a change log up shortly.  So thank you all for your support and please tell everyone about our site.
